What is a sew-in?
A sew-in is a protective hairstyle where wefted extensions (also known as tracks) are sewn into cornrows on your natural hair. It gives length, volume, and versatility while keeping your natural hair protected.
How long does it take to install?
Most sew-ins take about 4 hours, depending on hair length and the type of sew-in (traditional with leave-out, flipover, or with a closure). Closure sew-ins will take a more time.
How long will it last?
Typically, a sew-in lasts about 8 weeks with proper care. After that, it’s best to take it down to protect your natural hair and scalp.
Can I wash my sew-in?
Yes! You can shampoo it gently, focusing on your scalp and letting the water run through the hair. I can show you how to do it properly so it lasts longer.
Will a sew-in damage my natural hair?
Not if it’s installed and removed correctly. I make sure your foundation (braids + thread tension) is protective and not too tight.
Do I need to bring my own bundles?
You can bring your own bundles, or I can recommend trusted vendors that offer good quality hair that lasts through multiple installs.
How many bundles do I need?
I recommend at least 3 bundles. 4 bundles is best if you like your hair full and for longer lengths.
Can I style my sew-in like real hair?
Yes! You can curl, straighten, or crimp it depending on the hair type you choose. Just use heat protectant like you would on your natural hair.
Can you install a closure with my sew-in?
Absolutely! Adding a closure to your install is available for an additional $25. Just be sure to drop your closure off before your appointment so I can bleach the knots and have it prepped for your install.
How should I prep my hair before my appointment?
Please arrive with your hair clean, detangled, and blow-dried (unless shampoo service is included in your appointment). This helps us start right away and ensures the best foundation.
